Welcome to Rick Walker’s Burrowing Owl Project

Burrowing Owls are among the most fascinating birds of the desert Southwest. Small, long-legged, and remarkably expressive, they spend much of their lives on or below the ground and have adapted to some of the challenging landscapes of Southern Nevada.

Rick Walker has spent years observing, photographing, and documenting Burrowing Owls and sharing what he has learned with others.

This site brings together Rick’s photographs, videos, presentations, field observations, and educational resources in one place. Whether you are a birder, photographer, conservationist, or simply curious about these remarkable little owls, we invite you to explore Rick’s work and learn more about Burrowing Owls.
