Burrowing Owls are among the most fascinating birds of the desert Southwest. Small, long-legged, and remarkably expressive, they spend much of their lives on or below the ground and have adapted to some of the challenging landscapes of Southern Nevada.

Meet Rick Walker
Rick Walker is a Southern Nevada birder, photographer, and longtime observer of Burrowing Owls.
His work combines patient field observation with photography, video, trail-camera monitoring, and public education. Through countless hours spent watching these birds, Rick has documented their behavior and helped others better understand the lives of Burrowing Owls in our desert environment.
